1991 - Kilowatt, Inc. was established under the corporate name ‘Cooper’s Welding and Manufacturing, Inc.’.  Originally located near Humboldt, SD with a service territory encompassing the great plains region, ‘Cooper’s’ forged a reputation for working in the unrelenting Midwest winter conditions on some of the world’s tallest man-made structures.  The original ‘Cooper’s' headquarters was equipped with a custom built tower section production facility, where some of the behemoth tower structures currently located on the great planes were originally manufactured.

With roots in broadcast tower manufacturing, ‘Cooper’s’ evolved over the years of operation and expanded their services to meet the increasing demands of broadcast corporations in the region.  This natural progression lead to specialization in the service and installation of their high powered television and radio broadcast communication systems as well as acquiring experience in a broad range of tower industry services.

During this time, tower manufacturing was optimized best by large production facilities with locations more favorable for raw material availability.  Proving to be most competitive in custom fabrication applications, 'Cooper's' tailored their manufacturing toward smaller, custom made products produced with minimal lead time.
